I had planned to get a few new recipes ready for sharing at the end of August/beginning of September, but life in my family has been a little crazy lately. It all began on Labor Day evening. I had made a blueberry-peach pie to take to a church picnic. Sam and I were on our way to the church when I received a text from the daughter. It was informing me of an incident that had never happened before in the years of growing 4 children, 3 of whom are boys….a broken leg. I was shocked! She had slipped and fallen, twisting her leg in the process and receiving 2 fractures, one in each bone just below her right knee. So, yeah….life suddenly changed for her and for me. Long story made short: she’s been in a splint from hip to toes because the swelling was too much for a cast. She has been home with us since last week since she can’t work, drive, or do much by herself. Tomorrow we make the trip to Atlanta to see if her leg can be cast. We’re hoping she can get back to work by next Monday. The fall season is extremely busy for retail!
Now, as if this trauma were not enough drama, my A1C out at Lackland graduated from his tech school yesterday afternoon! Yay!!!!! He gets to fly home tonight, landing around 11 pm. Yay!!!!!! This is wonderful; however, he has to report in at his base in NC by 8:30 Wednesday morning! Why they didn’t let him fly directly from one base to the other is beyond my understanding, but that’s the way it is. We got this news last night…yes, just last night. So while I drive the daughter to her doctor appointment in Atlanta, the hubby will have to drive the A1C to NC. And it is a 4-hour drive. Life is just a crazy mess right now! Never a dull moment even when the kids are grown and supposedly independent! Ha!
