Kitchen Favorites

Do you have a favorite kitchen appliance?  Or maybe a favorite kitchen tool?  I think that most of us who spend any time at all in the kitchen probably have something that is a favorite.  For me it is a set of mixing bowls.  These bowls belonged to my aunt years ago.  They were passed along to my mother when my aunt had to give up housekeeping in her later years.  I discovered them when my mother was needing to give up housekeeping, and they were kindly passed on to me.  I just fell in love with the 4-piece set, and the large yellow bowl has become my absolute favorite mixing bowl.  Whether it is cookie dough; bread dough; or cake batter, my yellow bowl is the one I reach for!

I also have another favorite bowl, but this one is just for looks.  It was my mother’s favorite mixing bowl when I was growing up.  She used it for just about anything, but it was always used for her special chocolate chip cookies! I have many special memories of that McCoy bowl.   I would love to use it, but it’s chipped and has a crack in the bottom of it after all its years of use.  It sits proudly now atop my hutch looking down over the dining room.

  1. Love these bowls. I found a set on ebay for my daughter when she got married. She had to have a set just like moms!
